As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this rather humerous nice quality bronze onlaid box with a silver lining , the black shakudo patinated bronze is decorated to the lid with a pair of characters appearing to be running scared of a lightning strike ,the characters are onlaid in gold, silver and shibuichi, the subject is probably inspired by a series of woodblock pictures by Katsushika Hokusai a famous Edo period artist , a great useful trinket box for your collection , the signature to the underside reads Kyoto Kuroda which was a renowned metal working factory and the corner of the lid reads Mitsumasa for the individual artist who made the box.

The condition is great with minimal age related wear .
