As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality unusual pair of mixed metal lidded vases by the highly regarded Nogawa company , the heavy temple style vases are finished in a copper coloured patination heavily onlaid using mixed alloys including Gold, Silver , Shibuichi and Shakudo , the main bodies each depict a pair of silver Egrets at a lakeside setting , the artist has captured the scene in great detail using multi coloured alloys to give an autumnul feel to the overall setting , he may have drawn his inspiration from the master metal worker Suzuki Chokichi who excelled in this style of decoration , the lids are silver decorated to the finials and each carry three mixed metal Egrets circling the landscape below, a very unusual high quality pair of vases stamped to the underside with the Nogawa seal.
The condition is lovely with minor age related wear.
