As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality solid silver mounted smokers companion , the hardwood box is lacquered throughout with flying Manchurian cranes amidst Gold lacquered and ivory mounted Prunus blossom trees , the cabinet houses three silver handled pipe and accessory drawers to the front, and a pair of silver topped Tobacco jars are located within the top section , the finely cast silver lids once again decorated with Cranes, this striking little cabinet is carried with a folding handle supported by cast silver floral mounts, the top corners further decorated with solid silver chased decoration , a rare surviving pipe smokers accessory from the Meiji period.
The condition is excellent with minimal age related lacquer wear, remarkably no losses to the Shibayama inlays, and a very strong stable carcass throughout .
