As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this super quality Damascened lidded iron box by the famous Komai company of Kyoto , the lid is decorated with a central mon surrounded by a coiled Dragon and within a pretty floral border , the outer edge decorated in a more traditional geometric pattern , the box itself is decorated with a Flower and vine pattern throughout, with a conforming band of Imperial mon to each side all standing on bracket feet , the interior is typically decorated with native scenes of Butterflies amidst foliage and a Kingfisher upon reeds , the underside of the box is unusually also decorated and carries the Komai company dragonfly tablet signature , this box is from the late 19th century Meiji period 1868-1912.

The condition is lovely and original with minor age related wear.
