As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this exquisite and charming vase from the latter part of the Meiji Period 1868-1912 , circa 1890 , the elegant slender necked vase is formed from Shibuichi giving it a heavy and balanced feel , the tall neck is solid silver as is the foot rim , the unknown artist has captured a delightful portrayal of a Sulphur crested Cockatiel resting upon the branch of a tree, whilst preening his feathers , the onlaid work is super quality with the Bird itself being formed from Silver Gold and Shakudo , the remainder of the decoration incorporates onlaid Gold flowers and grasses around the base of the tree , a truly magical example of Japanese metalwork .
