As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this well recorded and fine quality mixed metal Saya Inro from the Meiji period 1868-1912 , Circa 1880 , the Inro is decorated with an onlaid Shakudo Carp in high relief swimming amidst Silver and Gold decorated Flora , upon a carved Shibuichi ground, the reverse further decorated with lakeside foliage including Prunus blossom, and signed with a two character signature with Kao, for the artist Sugimura Norimoto , a well recorded Tokyo artist , the cord runners are formed as simulated Bamboo whilst the inner sheath is made of Solid Silver , a fine quality Meiji period mixed metal Inro with an equally fine provenance.
