As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality Meiji period 1868-1912 cloisonne enamel vase, firmly attributed to the workshops of Hayashi Kodenji, the midnight blue enamel ground is predominately decorated with song birds amidst a cherry blossom tree, the work all finely picked out in silver wire, to the foreground is a delightful abundant meadow of native flora including lilies, peonies and chrysanthemums and once again all worked with silver wire, to the reverse a simple spray of flora, the foot and top rims are decorated with formal geometric and chrysanthemum borders synonymous with enamels produced under the stewardship of Hayashi Kodenji II during the latter part of the Meiji period, direct from a UK collector this vase would grace any Japanese themed room or add to your cloisonne enamels collection.
