As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this most charming Meiji Period 1868-1912, bronze and mixed metal koro (incense burner) by the highly regarded Kyoto based artist Miyabe Atsuyoshi, the large globular koro stands upon three squat feet and is decorated with a tranquil scene of birds in flight and at rest upon an Ikebana display, a group of the birds drinking from a bamboo form water feature cascading to the floor, the decoration continues upon the lid which is surmounted by a delightful Kingfisher upon a tree stump, the inner lid pierced to allow the escape of incense, the artist has fully signed the koro to the underside. A smashing piece of Japanese mixed metal ware from a highly prized artist of the late 19th century.
