As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this outstanding Meiji Period (1868-1912) cloisonne enamel vase by the Imperial artist Namikawa Yasuyuki (1845-1927). This super quality vase comes to us direct from a recently closed museum in Kyoto Japan, the Kiyomizu Sannenzaka . The highly fired black enamel body of the vase is finely decorated with a cockerel, hen and chicks amidst sprigs of finely executed hydrangea, peonies and other native flora, birds in flight can be found to the rear. The underside bears the original silver signature seal for the most highly coveted cloisonne enamel artist from the Meiji Period, that of the Imperial artist ( Teishitsu Gigei-in) Namikawa Yasuyuki. A super vase from the Kyoto studios of this highly coveted artist that now carries the impecable provenance from a Kyoto museum as well as previously forming part of a world leading collection of Meiji Period works of art. Its probably fair to say that provenance for a Namikawa vase doesnt get much better than this.
