As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this finely Embroidered Meiji period ( 1868 – 1912 ) Silk Shawl , depicting scenes of Butterflies and Flowers stitched upon a purple silk background and lined to the rear , the panel also surrounded with decorative stitched tassels , we are led to believe that the item was intended as a Piano Shawl , our view is that it would look simply stunning if framed and preserved as a piece of art, or alternatively used as a throw on a bed or settee back , either way these Meiji period embroidered items represent ridiculous value for money when you consider the number of days of painstaking work involved in their manufacture , a delightful work of art .
