As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this most charming Meiji Period 1868-1912, circa 1900 Satsuma vase, manufactured by the highly regarded Ryozan Okamoto in association with the Yasuda Company, this tall elegant vase is predominantly painted with a scene of a red maple tree upon which perch a beautiful pair of birds at rest, the simple red maple leaf decoration, more synonymous with the latter works of Yabu Meizan, has been highlighted here upon fine speckled gold misting, and to great effect, the shoulders and foot rims finished with concise geometric gilt borders, whilst the neck rim has been formed as bamboo, a trait of Ryozans work that we have encountered in the past.Overall an immaculate and most charming Japanese Satsuma vase that would brighten up any collection.
