As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this rare example of a Meiji Period (1868-1912) mixed metal Cockatoo on its en suite stand, the okimono cast in two separate sections, the detachable bird perched on one foot atop a gnarled maple branch stemming from a rectangular plaque for wall mounting, the birds right talon raised to its beak, the silvered bronze body highlighted with gilt and shakudo, the glass eyes bring this gorgeous bird to life, signed in a rectangular gilt reserve with chiselled signature that reads Bikoku/ Yoshitani Tokusei,  the bronze wall mounted stand highlighted with autumnul patination to the maple leaves and similarly signed with the same seal. A very rare example by a well recorded maker of this particular subject.
