As art of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this unusual Meiji period 1868-1912 , circa 1880 , mixed media Tonkotsu ( Tobacco container ) , the main body of the container is formed from the most gorgeous mellow Honey coloured cut of Ivory carved with Bamboo shoots and a reeded collar , one side of the container is decorated with an applied finely lacquered Cicada with the reverse similarly decorated this time with a Snail amidst Grasses , the hardwood lid fits a treat and is also decorated in similar fashion, this time with an applied  lacquer Cricket, as well as turned Ivory eyelets,  the lid held in place with a Coral Ojime bead sliding upon the purple cord through these eyelets , the inside of the lid bears a collectors label which suggests this item has been part of the Dennis collection , a simply fascinating and  high quality Tonkotsu that would seriously enhance your Smoking related or Japanese Works of art collection .
