As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this exceptional quality Meiji period 1868-1912 , circa 1890, pair of Bronze and parcel Gilt Okimono by the highly acclaimed Yokohama based foundry of Miyao Eisuke , this comical pair of figures represent Noh actors or dancers , in other words Japanese theatre characters , the artist has carved the bronze figures in exquisite detail throughout , with the further use of gold he has highlighted many of the features upon the characters clothing , including Dragons , Phoenix and Mons , as well as their weapons and theatre props , the bodies and faces are patinated in a softer coloured bronze , the hair chiselled to an exceptional lifelike standard and tied impeccably beneath their hats , these substantial heavyweight Bronze figures slot with lugs into their original Gold lacquer decorated hardwood stands , each figure signed with a Gilt tablet for Miyao Eisuke , a wonderful and humorous pair, and of the highest quality casting from the foundry of this highly revered craftsman , these Okimono would enhance the finest of Japanese works of art collections.
