As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality diminutive Meiji Period (1868-1912) cloisonne enamel square form dish artsist sealed to the underside. The green enamel central panel depicts a bird pecking at the ground beneath a bed of flowers aside a large rockwork, this entire panel predominatly worked with gold wires throughout, the rockwork most unusually framed with flattened gold wire. The blue enamel inner border finely worked with silver wired floral sprigs to each corner and set within a silver framed geometric outer border, the rear of this charming little dish is decorated with a heavy counter enamel set with a silver wired artist seal, a most charming addition to your cloisonne enamel collection.
Literature :
This diminutive little dish is extensively worked in gold and silver wires of a quality and style that would instantly be associated with such luminary artists as Inaba or Hayashi Kodenji, however on this particular piece the silver seal does not represent either of these well known schools . My extensive research continues in an attempt to trace this apparently little known, possibly unrecorded signature seal .
