As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this charming little Meiji Period (1868-1912) Satsuma Sake Ewer or tea kettle painted by the highly regarded artist Hozan . This super condition fine quality ewer is predominatly painted with panels depicting scenes of villagers going about their daily routines, the two panels bordered by very fine geometric and floral details particularly the top and bottom bands, the handle and spout are formed as bamboo and are decorated with birds in flight moulded in relief, the lid finely decorated with bands of flora rising to a gilt finial. The underside of this little ewer carries a most interesting and highly decorative signature scroll as well as minute floral decoration to the outer rim, an absolute little gem to add to your Japanese Satsuma or ceramics collection.
