As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this super quality pair of Bezique or games markers from the latter part of the Meiji period (circa 1900) each marker is formed from high quality cuts of ivory, the central panels are carved in high relief and depict a pair of Monkeys with a Persimmon fruit and a further pair of Monkeys reaching over as if to grab the fruit , ten of the lifting games marker tabs are also carved with Monkeys, interestingly the remaining six are carved with Dragonfly, Locust, Butterflies and Flora , one of the markers appears to be signed in a red seal and both retain their original retailers/price labels to the rear, a great pair of markers for your Bijouterie cabinet .
