As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this high quality mixed metal bronze vase firmly attributed to the highly coveted artist Suzuki Chokichi, art name of KAKA,the vase is finely onlaid in mixed metal alloys including gold and silver, the autumnal finish to the foliage is typical of this artists work , there is a further band of gold inlaid butterflies at the base of the elongated neck , a great quality vase by a highly regarded artist ,Kaka was the leading artist of the first ever Japanese commercial metalworking company, essentially set up as a commissioning company following on from the success of the 1873 Vienna exposition , the company called itself the Kiritsu Kosho Kaisha and lasted until 1891 with Chokichi widely recognised today as its master technician, the factory would sign its works as either the company name in a 6 character seal or sometimes with an oval seal by Suzuki Chokichi himself ,however all works bearing either seal are usually firmly attributed to Chokichi, although this vase is not signed it carries a model number 136 on its rim at the base , this is the identical number stamped on a pair of these vases that we have recently sold to a private collector , those bases were signed KKK and that pair were identical in size and form .
The condition is superb throughout !
