- As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality chunky one piece ivory okimono by the artist Tomonobu ,he has captured the most amazing and comical street brawl that you could ever imagine , the apparent attacker to the left has hold of the victim by his mouth and has obviously already hit him with his stick judging by the whacking great lump on his head, the injured party and companions are trying desperately to prevent a further beating by grabbing the assailants arm while the man laying flat on the floor grabs hold of the stick ,amazingly amidst this melee are a couple of females , one pulling on the leg of the stick wielding attacker while the other appears to be clinging to the victims legs, although clearly in a state of distress herself !
The facial expressions and overall detail is fascinating and high quality, the artist clearly had a vivid imagination and a great skill to carve those images.
A wonderful and rare subject okimono that would compliment any high quality collection , artist signed to the underside .
