As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this quite enchanting oval mixed metal box and cover from the latter part of the Meiji period , circa 1900 , the oval box depicts a very relaxed Daikoku, one of the seven Gods of good fortune, he rests upon his arm with his legs crossed and his mallet in his right hand, the artist has highlighted the characters features with the use of mixed alloys including Gold, Silver and Shibuichi , the reeded oval box is heavy quality and has been gilded to the lid and sides, the underside is silvered as is the interior, a great addition to your collection whilst being a useful trinket box.

The condition is good with minor age related wear to the silvered areas .
