As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this most interesting Taisho/Showa period, circa 1920/30’s, contemporary style Enamel vase , the unusual shaped vase is copper bodied as if Cloisonné, but decorated in a multi coloured running glaze enamel technique leaving a quite extraordinary molten pattern, some of which is in Moriage (raised relief) , the gorgeous Aqua Blue base colour is drizzled with Greens , Reds and Golds to give this vase what can be described as a contemporary feel , although my thoughts are that is was produced in the 1920’s or 30’s , artist signed to the underside translating to read Yuichi Saku ( made by Yuichi ) , not an artist that we have come across , likely to have been working in a studio school setting in the early 20th century , and clearly not afraid to practise new techniques , a quite dramatic object for your room setting or Japanese Cloisonné enamel collection .
