As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this very finely carved Meiji period ( 1868 – 1912 ) circa 1890 Boxwood Netsuke of a toad by the leading Netsuke carver Masanao of Ise , the Toad is modelled sat upon a tightly woven sandal , the Toads Eyes are inset with black horn, the Himotoshi has been created from one of the Sandal thongs , the artist has signed the Netsuke to the underside in an oblong seal , another great Boxwood Netsuke from the same UK collection as many others previously listed , a fine addition to your Netsuke or Japanese works of art collection .
