As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this diminutive Meiji Period 1868-1912, bronze okimono depicting a strolling elephant, this small but fine quality casting has been manufactured by the highly regarded artist Atsuyoshi whilst working for the Maruki company, on this occasion the artist captures an elephant gazing to the left side with its trunk curled between the huge great tusks, a very pleasing study of this most majestic beast, artist signed by Atsuyoshi in an oval cartouche alongside the Maruki seal stamped into the underside of its rear foot.
