As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this most unusual Meiji Period (1868-1912) cloisonne enamel hanging koro or incense burner, the vessel formed as a boat at sea. The artist has captured the scene of this vessel navigating crashing waves with the use of blue and white enamels interspersed with silver wires, above the deck a flock of plover circle in anticipation . The koro houses an original removable liner at midships, this could be used for incense or as a recepticle for a small floral display, the boat hangs upon silk cords fixed to the silver suspension rings which are set up for perfect balance. A most unusual highly decorative and functional cloisonne enamel koro to brighten up a room of your choice .
