As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this charming Meiji Period (1868-1912) shibuichi and mixed metal decorated table box artist signed by Suzuki Michihiro, a recorded artist active around the 1890’s period. The rectangular box of rounded form depicts a scene of a goose in flight above a lakeside setting, this central panel finely executed with the use of mixed alloys of shakudo, gold and silver framed within a geometric damascened border, the sides of the box further decorated with insects and plants in mixed alloys. The delightful box rests upon bracket feet with the inner rims lined in silver, the artists signature Michihiro with gold seal can be located on the lower right handside of the lid.
