As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this delightful quality Meiji Period 1868-1912 silver and enamel Koro,circa 1890 , although unsigned the Koro is of exceptionally fine quality, the hand hammered solid silver globular body stands upon three shaped feet, the silver body fitted with its original silver liner, the main body of the Koro is decorated with three pierced and enamelled panels, the cloisonné enamel decoration depicts gilt wired butterflies amidst native flowers such as peony and chrysanthemum , the work carried out in the manner of leading Meiji period enamellists like Hiratsuaka Mohei, the pretty little Incense burner is topped of with a snug fitting pierced silver and enamel lid, further decorated with vibrant enamels around a central sixteen petal Imperial chrysanthemum , an absolute delight, worthy of your Japanese works of art collection .
