As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this large and highly decorative pair of Cloisonné vases from the late Meiji period (circa 1900) the main body of the vases is enamelled in a striking aqua blue typical of the period, each vase has been painstakingly decorated to depict native flora including Peonies, Roses and Chrysanthemums, Birds and Butterflies can be seen in flight and at rest amidst the floral scenes, the base of the vases have been decorated with a conforming border of multi coloured Moths , meanwhile the shoulders and top rims are decorated in geometric bands above a ring of Chrysanthemum and Peony, the interior and bases have been counter enamelled in a darker shade of blue, a highly decorative and large pair of Cloisonné vases that in our opinion are still grossly undervalued when you consider the countless hours of work involved in process .
The condition is excellent !
