As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this finely carved chunky one piece ivory okimono from the Meiji period , the carver has captured the very realistic image of an Elephant being set upon by three female Lions , the incredibly well detailed Elephant is doing his best to overcome the cats as they cling on to his huge frame , the artist has cleverly captured details such as the lioness claw marks on the elephants hide which has itself been finely rendered , a very intricate okimono, artist signed to the underside of the Elephants front foot .
The delicate carving is in perfect condition throughout !!
