As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this quite superb quality Gold lacquer Koro , the globular shaped Koro stands upon three Silver and enamel legs , the neck houses a Silver rim upon which fits the heavily decorated and pierced lid, the lid further decorated with enamel and onlaid Gold flowers , the underside of the lid pierced with an Imperial Chrysanthemum , the neck of the Koro adorned with a silver onlaid tied swag to each side , the globular vessel is fantastically decorated in fine quality Shibayama detailing with the usual array of Birds amongst foliage, vases containing floral displays and a rather nice red three tiered whatnot containing precious objects, rather unusually this Koro also depicts a Cat creeping up to the birds at a feeding table “Cat amongst the Pigeons ” springs to mind ! , the top border is finished with stunning quality Lacquer decoration and the interior has been finished with Tea dust lacquer , the side handles formed as stylised mythical beasts and enamelled in vibrant colours.
An increasingly rare and absolutely stunning condition example, comes complete with a protective Tomobako .
