As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this large Meiji period fully articulated Dragon (Jizai) okimono, the dragon naturalistic-ally rendered with a long serpentine and undulating body with carved ivory flames licking its flanks, each spiny vertebrate rotates to give this okimono a real feeling of movement when held in your hands, the leg joints, feet, head, mouth and tongue also movable, the dragon can be displayed freestanding, or alternatively on a detachable natural wood stand that our workshops have purpose made to display him to great effect, an increasingly scarce and fascinating item from the ingenious artisans of the Meiji period.
