As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this large fine quality Meiji period Imperial palette Satsuma Panel / Dish, the heavily enamelled Dish is finely decorated with a Pheasant perched high up in the branches of a Prunus tree, and surrounded by native flora including chrysanthemum and Peonies, the enamelled blue border further decorated with gilt flowers and stylised decoration, the reverse of this dish finished in typical heavy crackled glaze and signed “Gyokuzan” in gilt script, together with a blue Shimazu mon, although fitted with a heavy duty wall hanging wire, this dish would also make a superb table centre or fruit bowl.
The condition is superb with minimal wear to the gilding.
