As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this hand hammered Meiji period 1868-1912, circa 1880 Iron and mixed metal Koro , the main body of the globular Koro is formed from tin sheet Iron, hand hammered into the shape , and profusely onlaid with the use of soft mixed metals including Gold , Silver , Shakudo and Shibuichi , the main body depicting a Floral display of Chrysanthemum, Peonies and other attractive native Flora, the reverse depicts two super quality Silver and Gold onlaid Butterflies, the foot rim and top rim manufactured from solid Silver , the interior also houses a pull out Silver liner, the snugly fitting Silver lined lid is surmounted with a Silver and Gold Chrysanthemum knop finial , a delightful piece of early Meiji period metalwork that would sit well in any serious Japanese metalwork or works of art collection .
