As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this very large and decorative bronze and mixed metal vase from the Meiji period, this huge stylish facetted bronze vase has been heavily decorated in high relief with a multi patinated Prunus tree branch entwined around its neck , the Prunus blossom realistically decorated in gold and silver, in the lower branches of the foliage sit a pair of multi coloured exotic songbirds, whilst perched upon the higher branches of the tree is a full okimono of a silvered Eagle, the artist has given the impression that he has just landed which will no doubt cause the song birds to flee , we have often had these vases in smaller scale with the birds finished in flattened form against the body of the vase , this is a much more impressive and highly decorative version that will require a good solid display stand, and an airy space to display it looking it’s best.
The condition is good with minor age related wear.
