As part of our Japanese Works of art collection we are delighted to offer this lovely little Japanese Meiji period boxwood Netsuke depicting a rat clutching a nut, the artist has captured in good detail the moment a rodent is curled over a Chestnut securing it with all four legs, his tail curled over his back as if he was feeling intimidated by predators, the colour of this lovely Netsuke is consistent, a very tactile if naïve rendition of a popular Japanese subject.
