As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this nice quality carved Meiji period Ivory Okimono of a Cooper working inside his barrel, the cooper sits crossed legged using his left leg to steady the barrel whilst he diligently works on the interior, the barrel itself has been finely carved to highlight the banded wooden planks, the okimono is signed in an incised seal to the underside and reads ‘Ishinsai’, the condition is clean and stable however we have noted and old professional repair to the barrel and have priced this Okimono accordingly.
