As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this mixed metal onlaid cylindrical vase by one of our personal favourite factories “The Nogawa Company”, this substantially cast bronze vase has been finely chiselled to depict a large branch of a blossom tree across the main body, the detailing of the Gold & Silver Blossom in particular is exquisite , upon the branch sits a large Japanese Sea Eagle of the finest quality imaginable for a “factory vase” of the Meiji period, his body is formed from Shakudo and Shibuichi, his head and legs chiselled in Solid Silver and Gold , he rests menacingly waiting to pounce upon his prey , the vase is sealed by Nogawa to the base and artist signed on the  side , we firmly believe that some of the works derived from factories such as Nogawa & Kuroda to name but two, have in the past been significantly undervalued when compared to their contemporary’s , the Eagle on this vase would certainly not be out of place on a piece from a much higher valued metalworker of the period, it is my contention that it can only be a matter of time until items of this type increase significantly in value ? , can this charming vase find a place in your Japanese works of art collection .
