As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality Japanese mixed metal box by the highly regarded Meiji period artist Miyabe Atsuyoshi , the rectangular box is finished in a shakudo black ground to the main body which is nicely onlaid with mixed metal butterflies , the lid is patinated in a contrasting caramel and depicts a pair of mixed metal egrets perched upon a branch above a flowing stream , the birds sat poised to strike at the fish swimming beneath , the interior of the box is silvered whilst the inner lid has further chased butterfly decoration , signed to the underside by Miyabe Atsuyoshi , a great piece of Meiji period mixed metalwork .

The condition is great with only age related wear .
