As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this exceptional quality and condition iron visiting card case undoubtedly made by the Komai company of Kyoto, the chunky case is decorated to one side with a traditional village scene bordered within a geometric banding , the other side houses a village scene within a shaped cartouche together with a fan carrying a bird amidst flora , the remainder of the case is decorated with grape and vine damascened work finished in incredible detail, the hinged case would have been produced by the Komai company at the end of the 19th century Meiji period , and aimed at wealthy businessman to house their visiting cards, a fabulous gift or collectable in time warp condition throughout !
