As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this Edo period bronze and mixed metal Tsuba depicting a fisherman out boating with a basket or lantern in his hand, the subject captured beneath a moonlit sky , the rear of the tsuba depicts a pair of birds in flight about to land in the lakeside setting , the subject worked in mixed metals including gold, silver and shakudo, the tsuba is signed to the front by Iwamoto Konkan (1744-1801), part of a group of tsuba from a single owner collection .

This late 18th century artist has many tsuba recorded in museums and collections around the world .
