As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality Japanese Ivory Okimono depicting a warrior in a battle pose wearing his full “Yoroi” ( suit of armour ) the intricate detailing of the Armour is known as Kozane , as is usually bound in Iron or Leather,captured wielding a Sword over his head whilst stood one footed upon a broken table , sections of a Suzuribako ( Box of writing equipment ) being hurled over his shoulder and his Kabuto (helmet) slung down his back, the artist has captured the moment of attack with incredible detail, in particular the Warriors menacing face ,  signed to the underside in a lovely inset Mother of pearl tablet which translates to read ” Shihro” , old collection and exhibition labels also attached to the underside .

A fascinating study and great addition to your Japanese Okimono collection.
