As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this Meiji /Taisho period  (1868-1912/26  ) c-1915/20 carved wooden Netsuke depicting Abura Bozu ( the Oil thief ), modelled as an emaciated temple servant, he wears his very large straw hat that has been mishapen by the strong winds he is walking through, his face is contorted in dismay as he holds a broken shoe (Geta)  , whilst also concealing a bird in his hands, his chest / rib cage has been carved in great details as has the face and robes he wears,  a great addition to your Japanese works of art or Netsuke collection.
