As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this lovely Japanese Celadon Studio pottery Okimono, depicting a resting Dove ( the symbol of peace ), the well recorded artist Teraike Toshu has potted this bird in fine detail throughout with a consistent pale celadon glaze, signed with an impressed seal mark to the underside, this Taisho / Showa period artist work can be found at the national museum in Kyoto, he trained originally in Kutani style porcelain but later moved to Kyoto to further his craft under the famous Kiyomizu Rokubei V (1874-1959), he further exhibited at the Japanese government sponsored Exhibitions between 1932 – 1957, his son Teraike Shizuto born 1933 continued the family tradition as a potter in Kyoto.
