As part of our Japanese Works of art collection we are delighted to offer this nice quality Meiji period black lacquered Karabitsu/ Trinket box, the rectangular lidded box has been inlaid with numerous Mother of Pearl Mon depicting stylised Ho- Ho Bird (Phoenix ) , the useful little box is raised on four gilt metal mounted peg feet and has two gilt ring side handles, attached to the handles is the original woven sash to secure the lid , a very useful and decorative piece of Meiji period lacquerware.
