As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this rare Japanese Edo period (1615-1868) Circa 1780 , Iron & Mixed metal Hiuchibako Netsuke / Tinder box depicting scenes of a temple building with a large tree in the background, and stood amidst rocky outcrops, the tree highlighted in Silver and the temple highlighted in Gold, the reverse has a hanging eye to attach to a cord or pouch, it would appear that this object would have been carried in much the same way as a Netsuke and probably by a smoker or warrior in order to have the ability to provide a spark to create a flame , a very interesting find in great condition , a most unusual addition to your Japanese works of art collection .
